Nemanja Vidic has today announced his retirement from football.
The former Manchester United star agreed to leave Inter Milan in January after an unsuccessful spell there but was expected to find a new club.
Indeed, Aston Villa, who are bottom of the Premier League, were credited with an interest in the 34-year-old centre-back.
And that has not escaped the attention of Twitter users who now believe that the two things are linked.
Did the thought of playing for Villa really make the Serb choose to retire?
Twitter thought so…
