AGN Abuja Chapter Curses EMEKA IKE Out For Insulting An Elder

The battle line has been drawn between the Abuja chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, and actor Emeka Ike, following a recent face off which the latter had with one of the veteran actors and a staunch member of the chapter, Chief Tony Nworisa.

The chapter claimed that Emeka Ike insulted the veteran actor without any justification for his action. It, therefore demanded an apology from the actor, insisting that unless he apologizes to the chapter, none of its members will have anything to do with him again.

The chapter recalled that on the 24th of November, shortly after its monthly meeting which held at Asset Gardens Garki Area 8, where some members of the chapter were invited for a casting at Febson Hotel. Chief Tony Nworisa was one of them. After arriving Febson Hotel at about 8 pm, Chief Tony alongside other elders and members of the chapter, including Chief Bruno Iwuoha, Mr. Tony Ezemadu, BJ, Rikki Akpokaigbo, Holy Steve sat at the pool side waiting for the scripts when Chief Tony, having sighted Emeka Ike, called him in good faith to exchange pleasantries.

After exchanging pleasantries, Emeka Ike invited Chief Bruno Iwuoha to an event at Sheraton Hotel which was to hold on the 25th November. While encouraging them to be in attendance, Emeka Ike was said to have started raining insults on the entire Igbo people. As a custodian of the Igbo culture and tradition, Chief Tony Nworisa was said to have cautioned Emeka Ike. This was all that Chief Tony needed to say to provoke an unprecedented outburst of rage, disregard and disrespect from Emeka Ike.

However, in a statement made available to HVP, Chairman, Abuja -AGN, Ajility Onwurah condemned Emeka Ike’s action, demanding a public apology from him. He, however, called on the members of the chapter to disassociate themselves from Emeka Ike, stressing that the guild will see anyone who is associating with the actor as the President of AGN as one who do not want peace in AGN.

“It is in view of these, we hereby publicly declare Emeka Ike a threat to the peace and security of the AGN Abuja chapter and indeed the national body, and his attack on Chief Tony, leaves little to be imagined of what he could do to a helpless young fellow.”

Meanwhile, when contacted on the telephone, the embattled actor described his accusers as “disgruntled opposition”, adding that ” They were not happy because we did not invite them to our event.”

“I invited serious minded people and not people who would demand for appearance fees at the end of the event. I don’t know what they are saying. What was he doing at event venue? Perhaps, he was there to create a wrong impression about us. We were having a summit where all the states’ chairmen of AGN were represented including PMAN. We held the event at Sheraton. What they are trying to do now is to rubbish that programme and send a wrong signal about us to the public. I am not begging anybody to be relevant. I am walking on a legitimate ground,” Emeka Ike fumed.
